How to care for your jewelry?

The first step is to identify the metal with which your piece is made, as some metals and finishes require more care than others.

At Montéz Jewelry, we work with the following materials: .925 Sterling Silver, .925 Sterling Silver with a 14K gold plating, and solid 14K gold.

Pieces made of .925 Sterling Silver with a 14K gold plating are more delicate, as over time and with use, they may lose the gold color. This can happen for various reasons, including exposure to chemicals like perfume, chlorine, beauty products, the natural pH of the skin, sweat, or seawater.

Care for .925 Sterling Silver, .925 Sterling Silver with 14K Gold Plating, and Solid 14K Gold:

• Avoid direct contact with products that can damage the metal, such as perfume, beauty products, sweat, oils, and body creams, among others.
• Avoid submerging your pieces in saltwater, sand, chlorinated water, and other chemicals.
• We recommend removing your jewelry when exercising or engaging in physical activities and before sleeping, as they can be accidentally damaged.
• While you can bathe with our pieces, it's advisable to clean them thoroughly afterward to remove any soap or shampoo residues, as these can stain or dull the piece. For gold-plated pieces, we recommend not bathing with them.

How to Store Your Jewelry:

• Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Ideally, store your jewelry in an airtight container to prevent oxidation.
• Avoid storing your jewelry directly with wood, as it contains elements that can damage it.

How to Clean Your Jewelry:

• Avoid using toothpaste, as it can damage the metal of your jewelry.
• You can clean your jewelry by soaking it for 10 minutes in warm water with mild soap (avoid detergents). Afterward, use a soft brush to clean any dirt on the piece, and finish by drying with a soft cloth. Avoid using a toothbrush unless it is soft to prevent scratching the jewelry.
